Preparing Your Fabric

Fabric: For the best results, we recommend smooth cotton fabrics. Ribbed fabrics, waffle fabrics, and other heavily textured materials may prevent the transfer from bonding completely, resulting in uneven adhesion.

First, place your garment on a firm, heat-resistant surface. An ironing board is less suitable; a wooden board is preferable because it allows you to apply even pressure. Before applying the transfer, iron your garment without steam to remove any remaining moisture and smooth the fabric. Ideally, wash the garment beforehand to remove any fabric finish* and ensure the transfer adheres properly.

Fabric finish is a manufacturing treatment that makes fabrics smoother, firmer, or more stain-resistant. However, it can also interfere with the adhesion of iron-on transfers.

Positioning the Design

Set your iron to medium heat, usually the cotton setting, and turn off the steam function.

Place the design in the desired position on your garment, with the adhesive side facing down and the printed side facing up. Cover the design with a sheet of parchment paper.

Applying the Design

Press the iron firmly onto the parchment paper for 25 seconds. Avoid applying heat to the same area too often, as this can overheat or damage the fabric.

Important: Apply even pressure and do not move the iron back and forth, as this may cause the design to shift. Repeat until every part of the design has been applied and is securely bonded to the fabric.

Pay particular attention to edges and letters, making sure they receive sufficient heat and pressure. After the initial application, you can carefully use the tip of the iron to press down individual letters once more.

Removing the Film

Wait 3 minutes before carefully and slowly peeling off the film. This allows the adhesive to cool and bond properly with the fabric.

If the design does not separate easily from the film, iron it again briefly and wait until the transfer has cooled completely before trying again.

Sealing the Design

Once the film has been removed, cover the design with parchment paper again. Iron each individual section of the design for approximately 15 seconds to seal it completely. Apply even pressure throughout.

Afterward, allow the design to cool completely so the adhesive can bond securely with the fabric.

Care Instructions

Your new favorite piece can be worn immediately after applying the transfer. However, if you would like to wash it before wearing it for the first time, wait 48 hours to allow the adhesive to bond fully with the fabric.

Wash inside out at a maximum of 30°C using a gentle cycle.

Do not tumble dry, as the heat may affect the durability of the design. Never iron directly over the design; always place a sheet of parchment paper between the iron and the transfer to protect it.

My design has a small bubble or appears to be missing color in one spot. Is it defective?

This is not a defect. The design has simply started to separate slightly from the backing film in that area. This can occasionally happen and is completely harmless. The design separates entirely from the backing film during ironing anyway, so it does not affect the final result.

What should I do if the design starts to lift after washing?

If parts of the design lift slightly after washing, there is no need to worry. Simply place a sheet of parchment paper over the design and iron the affected areas again. The heat will reactivate the adhesive. Make sure to applysufficient pressureso the design bonds securely with the fabric again.

Which fabric works best for iron-on transfers?

Smooth cotton fabric is the best choice, as it allows the design to bond securely and last longer. Ribbed fabrics can also work, although their textured surface may slightly affect the design’s long-term durability.

For maximum longevity, smooth, untextured cotton is your best option.

How do I achieve the best results with my iron-on transfer?

The secret to a perfect iron-on transfer comes down to three factors: heat, pressure, and time. Only when all three are properly balanced will your design bond securely and smoothly with the fabric.

Be sure to follow the recommended ironing time and avoid setting your iron too low, as insufficient heat can prevent the adhesive from activating properly. Combined with even pressure, this will give you a durable, professional-looking result.

How hot should the iron be, and why does the right temperature matter?

Preheat your iron to a medium-to-high setting. The ideal temperature is approximately 150–170°C, usually the cotton setting.

Within this temperature range, the transfer adheres securely and retains its shape. Be sure to turn off the steam function. Dry heat activates the adhesive, allowing it to bond properly with the fabric.

Why is it important to apply pressure when ironing?

Applying the right amount of pressure allows the heated adhesive to bond evenly with the fabric, ensuring the design stays securely in place.

Just as a sticker only adheres properly when pressed firmly, an iron-on transfer also needs consistent, even pressure.

Medium pressure is ideal: firm enough to apply the design smoothly, but gentle enough to protect the fabric. If you press down firmly but comfortably with your iron, you are doing it right!

What is the recommended ironing time?

Press your design for approximately 25–30 seconds using the middle, widest part of your iron.
